The energy between Paris Hilton and Rick Noriega

U.S. Senate hopeful Rick Noriega has added Paris Hilton to his list of supporters, citing similarities between the hotel-heiress-turned-pseudo-presidential-candidate’s “energy policy” and his own.

Responding to a John McCain ad that compared Barack Obama to Hilton last week, Hilton says in her mock campaign ad that she supports expanding off-shore drilling as a short-term solution and pushing for the use of renewable energy sources in the long run.

Which means “even Paris Hilton agrees with us,” Noriega said at a rally in Austin Thursday night at Travis County Democratic Party Headquarters. Noriega, facing an enthusiastic crowd of roughly 100 supporters, turned out at least one more celebrity reference (Montel Williams) as he recapped an immigration platform unveiled earlier this week and criticized Republican Sen. John Cornyn for supporting “silly hoaxes” such as border fences.

(Cornyn voted in support of building 700 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border last year.)

“While I was down in Laredo as a border sector commander… having a real understanding of what border security is all about, John Cornyn was in Washington D.C. doing the Washington double talk,” said Noriega, who is trying to unseat Cornyn this November.

Noriega’s immigration policy — which pushes for a “tough but reasonable path towards citizenship” for illegal immigrants already in the U.S., a crackdown on businesses that hire illegals and the hiring of 18,000 new border control agents — has been criticized by the Cornyn campaign for being hatched by “beltway liberals” and mimicking “old failed policies.” The Noriega camp has in turn criticized Cornyn for derailing a 2007 immigration bill in the Senate that would have created a path to citizenship for illegals and toughened border security.

Other developments in the Noriega-Cornyn fracas this week: Noriega has challenged Cornyn to a debate, implying in a press release that Cornyn has been reluctant to do so.

Cornyn’s campaign shot back: “Tough talk coming from a guy who had to be dragged kicking and screaming to a primary debate,” spokesman Kevin McLaughlin said, referring to Noriega’s debate with rival Ray McMurrey earlier this year and adding that Cornyn would look forward to debating Noriega in the fall.

Noriega spokeswoman Holly Shulman said Friday that the campaign has not yet heard from Cornyn’s staff about scheduling a debate.

And finally, the Montel Williams reference you were all waiting for. Noriega, while talking about the nation’s “healthcare by crisis” system:

“It is a shame in this country that we have our senior citizens having to wait outside in hopes that Montel Williams drives by so they can get their pharmaceuticals.”

Noriega’s thinking that Paris will go back out by the pool and talk about HIM now. Keep dreaming, Rick “Not Hot” Noriega.

So, according to this article Democrat Noriega does not support Obama’s energy plan but supports McCain’s ‘all of the above’ approach? Hmmm…

Also Noriega needs to stop putting down the border fence. The more he wants to represent illegals the harder it will be to win a Texas election. He basically is supporting open borders though he couches it in political talk to confuse everyone.

Paris Hilton??? Good one Rick! That’s gonna get you a bunch of votes… NOT! Can we get back to real politics as usual? All this “galm” politicking is making me nauseous. They made this man a LTC in the guard?

Politicians will lie to us no matter what, to either get re-elected or to become the new guy on the block? We should make them sign a pledge, specifically when it comes to illegal immigration. This is a paramount issue, because it effects Americas economy and the non-reversible OVERPOPULATION?

Do you want 436 million people living in this country in just 20 years?

Each incumbent, each new face must promise to seal the borders, according to the original plan of Rep.Duncan Hunter (R-CA) A two layer, high-rise fence with a wide no mans-land for US border vehicles to patrol. The Democrats gutted funding for this first line of defense. This would also stop deaths in the deserts and on the highways a thing of the past.

They must sponsor the Federal SAVE ACT (4088) to enforce our immigration laws with funding, more agents and the E-Verify system to assist honest companies and imprison pariah employers. The Fed’s have a 99.5 percent success rate extracting illegal aliens on government payrolls. Demand all police departments have Immigration training, to ease the escalating crime rates across the country.

Their pledges must rescind all ‘Sanctuary city’ police policies or lose state and federal funding. We already are financially supporting 12 to 30 million illegal immigrants and their extended families. That when they swear on their Bible an oath of allegiance to the American people, they will fight both domestic and foreign enemies.

That means no AMNESTY, No path to citizenship by any illegal alien who stole into America? Find out the uncensored truth on Overpopulation at NUMBERSUSA and CAPSWEB.

So the Statesman typically completely ignores the fact that there’s a Senate race. And then when there’s a slight acknowledgement, it’s because of Paris Hilton. That is so trashy. If you’re going to write a story about the Senate campaign, write about the campaign. Don’t feel like you have to draw people in with some idiotic headline. Because, let me tell you, people who are that interested in Paris Hilton probably aren’t that interested in the Senate campaign.
